Murkowski Reacts to King Cove Court Ruling

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, issued a statement on March 29, 2019 after the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska released a ruling that sets aside and vacates a small land exchange between the Department of the Interior and the King Cove Corporation.

Delegation Hails Landmark Agreement for Life-Saving Road
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Dan Sullivan, and Rep. Don Young, all R-Alaska, today released the following statements after the Department of the Interior and the King Cove Corp. signed an agreement authorizing a small land exchange needed to construct a short, gravel, life-saving road that will connect King Cove, Alaska to the all-weather airport in nearby Cold Bay.

King Cove Road Information
The Aleut community of King Cove (Pop. 750) has been asking for over 20 years for a one-lane gravel road through the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge for transporting patients in emergency medical situations to an all-weather airport in Cold Bay. The road would be for non-commercial use only.
