Our national laboratory system is a critically important part of the nation’s research and development efforts. A number of reports over many years have highlighted the challenges that exist with the working relationship between the Department of Energy and the contractor-operated National Laboratories.

• Requires DOE to provide a plan for implementing recommendations made by the Commission to Review the Effectiveness of the National Energy Laboratories to promote better relations between the Department of Energy and national laboratories.
