Action on Energy Bill
Statement by Jeff Bingaman, Chairman Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources

“Senator Daschle’s approach to legislating energy is both sensible and responsible: The Senate has an obligation to first wrap up its work on issues dealing with our nation’s budget, and on other pressing priorities such as bio-terrorism and economic recovery. The Majority Leader’s commitment to taking up energy legislation early next year will give the Senate the time it needs to have the thoughtful debate and consideration that a comprehensive energy bill merits.
“Americans want and deserve a national energy policy that is done right, not just quickly. I’m pleased that we’re moving forward this way.”
