“Today, pursuant to the law, I filed a resolution approving Yucca Mountain, Nev., for the development of a centralized storage site for high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. As chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, it is my duty to take this action to move ahead with the process of considering the President’s selection of the site and the objection of the State of Nevada. Once we have finished the energy bill, our Committee will hold hearings that will fairly and thoughtfully examine all sides of this important issue.”
