The next meeting of energy bill conferees will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, in Rayburn 2123 (same room as the first meeting). It is open press.
Conferees will consider a host of provisions in the House bill and the Senate amendment. The agenda includes issue areas such as energy efficiency programs, energy assistance programs, energy security matters, Indian energy, nuclear energy, housing efficiency and miscellaneous other topics. Chairman Tauzin also intends to seek input from Members on the resolution of the Price-Anderson and electricity provisions of the Senate bill.
Chairman Tauzin has told conferees that he does not anticipate any roll call votes, but there is no guarantee that they will not occur. He said he intends to conduct the meeting under the general guidelines of the House's so-called "five-minute rule," in which conferees will be recognized for five minutes only in support of or opposition to specific matters before the conference.
