"Word that the White House intends to nominate Suedeen Kelly to fill a vacancy on the FERC is indeed welcome. I've always said that it's important for the West to have a voice on this key panel, and Suedeen is perfect for the job. As a Westerner and an expert on energy law, she will bring valuable experience and perspective to the work of this commission.
"President Bush's announcement also is a meaningful demonstration of good faith, and I plan to respond in kind. This week, at the Energy Committee mark-up, I will support Joe Kelliher's nomination to fill the other vacant seat at FERC, with the understanding and the expectation that the full Senate will confirm Joe and Suedeen simultaneously."
