SENATE ENERGY COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR WEEK OF JUNE 2

Washington, D.C. – The Subcommittees on National Parks and Public Lands and Forests will each be conducting one hearing. The Subcommittee on National Parks will hold a hearing to receive testimony on four bills on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at 2:30p.m. in SD-366. The four bills are: S. 268, a bill which authorizes the Pyramid of Remembrance Foundation to establish a memorial in the District of Columbia and its environs to honor members of the Armed Forces of the United States who have lost their lives during peacekeeping operations, humanitarian efforts, training, terrorist attacks, or covert operations. S. 296, a bill that will require the Secretary of Defense to report to Congress regarding the requirements applicable to the inscription of veterans' names on the memorial wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. S. 470, a bill to extend the authority for the construction of a memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr. S. 1076, a bill to authorize construction of an education center at or near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The five bills are: S. 391, the Wild Sky Wilderness Act of 2003 S. 1003, a bill to clarify the intent of Congress with respect to the continued use of established commercial outfitter hunting camps on the Salmon River H.R. 417, a bill that will revoke a Public Land Order with respect to certain lands erroneously included in the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge, California S. 924, a bill to authorize the exchange of lands between an Alaska Native Village Corporation and the Department of the Interior, and for other purposes. S.714, a bill to provide for the conveyance of a small parcel of Bureau of Land Management land in Douglas County, Oregon, to the county to improve management of and recreational access to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, and for other purposes The invited witnesses are: Sen.
