ENERGY CONFERENCE UPDATE #4
Alex Flint press briefing, SAP, email procedure
September 10, 2003
12:00 AM
The press briefing with Alex Flint has been rescheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday (tomorrow) in SD-628. Please note the location. It’s not one of our committee rooms. It’s on the 6th floor of Dirksen. This briefing is for press only. Please bring your press IDs. As always, this briefing is on the record. No cameras are allowed. I will send out an email following the briefing summarizing Alex’s remarks.
Attached to this email please find Secretary Abraham’s letter to conferees reflecting the Administration’s position on matters under consideration by the energy conference. The letter will shortly be posted on the committee website at the top of this page: /energy.senate.gov/legislation/energybill2003/energybill2003.cfm
Several reporters have asked for paper copies of the committee’s side-by-side comparison of S. 14, H.R. 6 as passed by the House and H.R. 6 as passed by the Senate. We have made several copies available in the main committee office (SD 364.) You are welcome to stop by and pick one up. (No more than one per person please.)
Regarding committee emails: In the last several months, I have received a stream of complaints from people on our email list who either aren’t getting all the emails or are getting them several hours after I send them. This has frequently been a problem for reporters on deadline. Our IT people have made every effort to address the problem, but the complaints continue.
At this point, the only way I can think of to address the problem is to post all emails on the committee website immediately after they are sent. I will follow this practice as long as the energy bill is in play.
If you think you’ve missed an email, please check our website at: energy.senate.gov. The emails will be posted in the press release section. They will be numbered, so you can track which ones you’ve received and which ones you haven’t.
I hope this helps you get the information you need in a timely fashion. We appreciate your interest in the committee updates.
