Committee Approves Nominations, 5 Bills in Today's Business Meeting
Washington, D.C. – The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee today approved four nominations and 5 bills in an 11:30 a.m. business meeting. The nominations and bills were approved by unanimous consent.
The items reported out of committee are as follows:
To consider the nomination of Raymond L. Orbach to be Under Secretary for Science for the Department of Energy.
To consider the nomination of Alexander A. Karsner to be Assistant Secretary of Energy (Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy).
To consider the nomination of Dennis R. Spurgeon to be Assistant Secretary of Energy (Nuclear Energy).
To consider the nomination of David Longly Bernhardt to be Solicitor of the Department of the Interior.
S. 476 - To authorize the Boy Scouts of America to exchange certain land in the State of Utah acquired under the Recreation and Public Purposes Act with a joint staff amendment in the nature of a substitute that makes technical changes.
S. 1829 - To repeal certain sections of the Act of May 26, 1936, pertaining to the Virgin Islands.
S. 1830 - To amend the Compact of Free Association Amendments Act of 2003, with a joint staff amendment to make technical changes, authorize the Freely Associated States to receive video taped programming from the United States, and authorize the Republic of Palau to deposit a payment payable to the United States into a Trust Fund to maintain the road system constructed pursuant to section 212 of the Compact of Free Association.
H.R. 562 - To authorize the Government of Ukraine to establish a memorial on Federal land in the District of Columbia to honor the victims of the manmade famine that occurred in Ukraine in 1932-1933.
H.R. 3443 ( S. 1498) - To direct the Secretary of the Interior to convey certain water distribution facilities to the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District.
