Domenici Announces Series of Energy Policy Act of 2005 Implementation Hearings
Monday hearings through the spring highlight various components of the energy bill
Washington, D.C. – Senate Energy Chairman Pete Domenici today announced the series of full committee hearings to discuss the implementation of the provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The first hearing will be held Monday, April 24, at 2:30 p.m. in room SD-366. The committee will receive testimony addressing coal liquefaction technology and coal gasification.
Chairman Domenici’s statement:
“Last year, Congress passed the first comprehensive energy bill in a dozen years. This bipartisan bill is starting to make a real difference in implementing leading-edge technologies and diversifying our energy supply. We are seeing an impact in the areas of coal, wind, solar, nuclear, and ethanol energies as well as conservation and efficiency across the energy spectrum. Beginning next week, my committee will hold a series of Monday hearings through the spring and early summer to examine both the implementation and impact of the energy bill in all of these key areas."
Congress and the Administration continue to work closely to implement the thousands of provisions aimed at stabilizing energy price and supply, modernizing energy infrastructure, and crafting new technologies in the next several years. The hearings, which will be chaired by a number of senators, will examine the pace of that implementation, its impact, and identify any delays that need to be addressed.
Witnesses will be announced the Friday prior to the hearing. A live webcast of the hearings can be accessed from our committee website at www.energy.senate.gov . Witness testimony is made available immediately following the hearing on our committee website.
