Washington, D.C. – Senate Energy & Natural Resources Chairman Pete V. Domenici today urged the House to pass the Deep Ocean Energy Resources Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at increasing energy production on the Outer Continental Shelf while granting coastal states the authority to prevent production within 100 miles of their coastline. The House is slated to vote on the bill today.
Domenici’s statement:
"I am pleased the House is taking up important OCS legislation to increase our domestic supply of oil and gas. Given the international situation right now, I think we should take all responsible steps to increase our own energy production. I continue the work to get my Lease Sale 181 bill to the floor this summer. I remain optimistic that Congress can do something this year to increase environmentally sound energy production on the OCS."
