Washington, D.C. -- The Energy Committee today approved by voice vote three appointments to the Department of Interior:  David Bernhardt to be Solicitor, John Ray Correll to be Director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement and Mark Myers to be Director of the U.S. Geological Survey.
 
Bernhardt is currently the Deputy Solicitor at the Department of Interior.  Prior to joining DOI, he worked in the private sector for the law firm of Brownstein, Hyatt and Farber P.C. Before joining the private sector, he also held a variety of legislative aide positions for former U.S. Representative Scott McInnis (CO-3).
 
Correll serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Mine Safety and Health Administration in the U.S. Department of Labor. Correll’s career spans 30 years in the mining industry in coal, metal and nonmetal. 
 
Myers serves as the State of Alaska Division of Oil and Gas Director, State Geologist, and Director of the State Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys.
