Interest Grows in Biofuels Conference

Accelerated biofuels diversity is a priority for the Senate Energy Committee. Given its potential contribution to our nation’s energy security (and with biofuels expected to loom large in tonight’s State of the Union), it’s not surprising that interest in our Transportation Biofuels Conference is growing like switchgrass.
Earlier this month, the committee sought comments and proposals as part of its bipartisan effort to find common ground how home-grown, biologically derived fuels can best be blended into our nation’s transportation fuel mix. Positively, we received more than 100 responses with 500+ ideas from industry, academia, NGOs, scientists and trade groups. The proposals were interesting, thought-provoking and extremely useful in building a base of information that will inform debate as Congress considers the part that biofuels will play in advancing America’s energy security.
Our all-day conference will be held Feb. 1 in Dirksen G-50. The agenda and panelists are:
