Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pete Domenici, ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, today announced that Matthew Letourneau will become Republican communications director for the committee effective March 5.
Letourneau, currently the deputy press secretary on Domenici’s personal staff, will replace Marnie Funk, who is leaving the committee to become Vice President of Communications/Washington for The Royal Dutch Shell Group.
“Because of his familiarity with many of the matters before the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and his experience as a key member of my press office, I have asked him to take over as Republican communications director for the committee. I have worked closely with Matt over the past three and a half years, and I am pleased he has accepted this new responsibility,” Domenici said.
Charles Chamberlayne, currently the committee’s Republican deputy communications director, will assist Letourneau as Republican press secretary.
Letourneau has been Domenici’s deputy press secretary since July 2003. Prior to that, he worked for U.S. Senator Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) and was a White House intern. He is a cum laude graduate of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C and was born and raised in Massachusetts.
