Gasoline at nearly $4 a gallon “may cast a cheerless cloud over summer travel,” wrote the Christian Science Monitor recently. What can the average motorist to do? A lot, actually. Studies show that Americans already have started to change their driving habits. Besides driving less, they’re trying to eke out the best mileage they can. Plenty of good websites offer sound advice on how to cut gas costs. This new one, hosted by the nonprofit, nonpartisan Alliance to Save Energy, is worth a look: http://drivesmarterchallenge.org/
