Suedeen G. Kelly of New Mexico announced today that she will not seek a third term on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Though Kelly’s current term expired in June, she will continue to serve on the five-member panel until the Senate confirms her replacement.
Chairman Bingaman has known Kelly for more than 25 years, since he hired her as an attorney in the New Mexico Attorney General’s office. She also has been a professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law, and she chaired the New Mexico Public Service Commission, which regulates the state’s electric, gas and water utilities.
