On Tuesday, June 22, the full committee will review policies to reduce oil consumption through the promotion of accelerated deployment electric-drive vehicles, as proposed in S. 3495. Witnesses will include Patrick Davis, program manager, Office of Vehicle Technologies, Department of Energy; Frederick W. Smith, chairman, president, and CEO, FedEx Corp., Memphis; Kathryn Clay, director of research, Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, Washington; Brian Wynne, president, Electric Drive Transportation Association, Washington; David Friedman, research director, Clean Vehicles Program, Union of Concerned Scientists, Oviedo, FL; and Alan Crane, senior program officer, National Research Council, Washington. On Thursday, June 24, the full committee will consider bills related to Minerals Management Service (MMS) reform and to offshore drilling: S. 3497, a bill to amend the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to require leases entered into under that Act to include a plan that describes the means and timeline for containment and termination of an ongoing discharge of oil; S. 3431, a bill to improve the administration of the Minerals Management service; and other legislation which will be added to the agenda next week.
