This afternoon, Chairman Bingaman had the benefit of meeting with President Obama in the Oval Office, to discuss energy policy.

“I deeply appreciate President Obama’s interest in energy issues. It is quite clear to me that the President expects energy policy to have a major place on this Congress’s agenda.
“In particular, I am impressed by the President’s continuing commitment to clean energy, and his recognition of its connection to good American jobs and global competitiveness. Both the President and I agreed that Congress has a real opportunity to work together on bipartisan legislation to advance our energy and economic security. I told President Obama that I plan to work with my colleagues on both sides of the Energy Committee aisle to develop workable legislative proposals that can achieve his clean energy goals.”
