Committee Reports One Nomination, Three Bills
In a mark-up today, Senate Energy Committee ordered reported, on a unanimous voice vote, the nomination of Dr. Peter Lyons to be assistant secretary of energy (nuclear energy) at the Department of Energy. The Committee also reported three bills, all of them regarding energy policy. Some of these were modified with amendments. The nomination and the three bills are now eligible for consideration by the full Senate:
S. 99 American Medical Isotopes Production Act of 2011.
Ordered reported, as amended by a Bingaman substitute amendment, by unanimous voice vote
S. 398 Implementation of National Consensus Appliance Agreement Act of 2011.
Ordered reported, as amended by a joint staff amendment, by vote of 18-4
S. 629 Hydropower Improvement Act of 2011.
Ordered reported, as amended by a joint staff amendment, by voice vote (Sens. Lee and Paul voting NO)
The Committee did not complete action on two other bills. They will receive further consideration at a future business meeting.
