Committee Reports Two Bills
In a mark-up today, Senate Energy Committee reported two bills, one regarding nuclear power and the other regarding oil production. Both bills are now eligible for consideration by the full Senate:
---S. 512 To amend the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to require the Secretary of Energy to carry out programs to develop and demonstrate two small modular nuclear reactor designs. This technical correction, ordered reported, by voice vote.
---S. 916 To facilitate appropriate oil and gas development on Federal land and waters, to limit the dependence of the United States on foreign sources of oil and gas. Ordered reported, as amended, by voice vote.
The Committee did not complete action on one other bill:
---S. 917 To amend the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to reform the management of energy and mineral resources on the Outer Continental Shelf.
