In light of the changing natural gas market, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a hearing in November to gain a better understanding of the laws and regulations governing LNG exports and how those exports might affect our domestic market.  Today, Chairman Bingaman responded to the findings of a new Energy Information Administration report, “Effect of Increased Natural Gas Exports on Domestic Energy Markets.”

“I’m glad that the Department of Energy is following this issue closely.  Clearly, the price impacts of exporting liquefied natural gas can be very different, depending on the pace and volume of growth in exports.  I hope this analysis enables DOE to make informed decisions, and I look forward to the release of the forthcoming additional report on the topic.”
