Week of Feb. 6 - 10

On Thursday, February 9, the full committee will receive testimony on H.R. 1904, the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act of 2011; and the text of S. 409, the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act of 2009, as reported by the Committee during the last Congress.  Confirmed witnesses include Mary Wagner, associate chief of the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture; Ned Farquhar, deputy assistant secretary of land and minerals management, U.S. Department of the Interior; Shan Lewis, president of the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc., Phoenix, AZ; and Jon Cherry, vice president of Resolution Copper, Superior, AZ. Any additional witnesses will be posted to the website when the witness list is finalized.  (Dirksen 366 at 9:30 a.m.)

Next week, Chairman Bingaman is honored to accept the “Jeff Bingaman Lifetime Service to Corps Award” from The Corps Network.  The Chairman participated in the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC), supported the Public Lands Corps Act of 1993 and the Healthy Forests Act of 2005, and now is the lead sponsor of the Public Lands Service Corps Act.  The ceremony will take place in 345 Cannon House Office Building at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
