Sen. Murkowski Comments on EPA Delay of RFS Standard
November 21, 2014
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today issued the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it would not finalize volume obligations for the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for calendar year 2014 in 2014:
“EPA’s announcement is yet another sign that the RFS is increasingly impractical and in need of serious reform,” Murkowski said. “With the agency responsible for implementing the standard now unable to finalize the rule for a calendar year within that year, let alone in accordance with statutory requirements, it is time for Congress to revisit and rethink this entire policy.”
Murkowski is the top Republican on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee
