Landrieu Discusses Energy Support for US Allies in Meeting with Ukrainian Ambassador
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., chair of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, emphasized the need for continued American assistance to the government and people of Ukraine during a meeting today with Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Olexander Motsyk.
“America’s ongoing assistance to the government and people of Ukraine is critical to thwarting the tyrannical ambitions of Vladimir Putin, and I am committed to strengthening this effort,” Sen. Landrieu said. “The American energy revolution offers us a unique opportunity to provide energy security to our allies in Eastern Europe and across the world, and I will continue to lead the coalition of senators in both parties to provide this essential assistance.”
In March, Sen. Landrieu supported Congressional efforts to provide $1 billion in loan guarantees to the government of Ukraine and called being sanctioned by Putin’s Russia a “badge of honor.”
