Chairman Murkowski and Ranking Member Cantwell Announce Upcoming Committee Schedule

The Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources today announced a business meeting and four hearings for the coming weeks. The business meeting will focus on the pending nominations for the Deputy Secretary of the Interior, Deputy Secretary of Energy, and members of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The hearings will focus on improving the National Park Service workplace environment, cost reductions in emerging energy technologies, innovation in microgrids and hybrid energy systems, and to receive testimony for several water related bills. - Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. EDT in Room 366 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building – Business meeting to consider the following nominations:
- The Honorable David Bernhardt to be the Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior;
- The Honorable Dan Brouillette to be the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Energy;
- Mr. Neil Chatterjee to be a Member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; and
- The Honorable Robert Powelson to be a Member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
- Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. EDT in Room 366 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building – Subcommittee hearing to examine opportunities for Moving into a Second Century of Service: Working to Improve the National Park Service Workplace Environment.
- Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. EDT in Room 366 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building – Full committee hearing to study cost reductions in emerging energy technologies with a specific focus on how recent trends may affect today’s energy landscape.
- Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. AKDT/2:00 p.m. EDT at the Cordova Center in Cordova, Alaska – Field hearing to examine Innovation in Action – Microgrids and Hybrid Energy Systems.
- Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. EDT in Room 366 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building – Subcommittee hearing to receive testimony on the following bills:
- S. 440, a bill to establish a procedure for the conveyance of certain federal property around the Dickinson Reservoir in the State of North Dakota;
- S. 677, the Water Supply Permitting Coordination Act;
- S. 685, the Clean Water for Rural Communities Act;
- S. 930, the Western Area Power Administration Transparency Act;
- S. 1012, the New Mexico Drought Preparedness Act;
- S. 1029, a bill to amend the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 to exempt certain small hydroelectric power projects that are applying for relicensing under the Federal Power Act from the licensing requirements of that Act; and
- S. 1030, a bill to require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to submit to Congress a report on certain hydropower projects.
