Senate Confirms FERC Nominees
U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today issued the following statement after the Senate unanimously confirmed Mark Christie and Allison Clements to be Members of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
“Especially as we work to rebuild the economy, electricity, natural gas, pipelines, and other energy projects will be a major driver of activity—which underscores the critical role of FERC,” Murkowski said. “With these confirmations, FERC will now have a full complement of commissioners heading into 2021. The nation and its dynamic energy industries must have timely decisions on the critical matters within FERC’s jurisdiction, especially in these challenging times. I wish Mr. Christie and Ms. Clements well as they prepare to assume their responsibilities as Commissioners.”
Mr. Christie will occupy the seat last held by former Commissioner Bernie McNamee for a term that ends on June 30, 2025. Ms. Clements will occupy the seat last held by former Commissioner Cheryl LaFleur for a term that ends on June 30, 2024.
Murkowski is chairman of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. The committee held a hearing for Christie and Clements on September 16, 2020, and favorably reported both nominations to the full Senate on November 18, 2020.
