WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s long-term climate plan for the United States. 

“President Biden is punishing America’s economy while pretending to protect the environment,” said Barrasso. “The president wants to kill abundant and affordable U.S. energy sources like oil, natural gas, and coal that Americans depend on. The White House’s plan is a recipe for disaster. It will result in skyrocketing power bills, less reliable energy, and fewer jobs for the American people. Shutting down the United States’ economy won’t fix climate change. It will only enrich China. America is already a world leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Free market innovation, not government regulation and taxation, is the only way to successfully reduce emissions.”
