March 24, 2021

Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm David M. Turk to be the Deputy Secretary of Energy by a vote of 98-2. U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement after voting to confirm Mr. Turk.

“I'm pleased to join my Senate colleagues in voting to confirm Mr. Turk to be our next Deputy Secretary of Energy. During his confirmation hearing, he demonstrated that he has the knowledge and the practical experience in energy, national security, and management that he will need to help Secretary Granholm lead the Department of Energy. He advanced out of the Energy Committee with unanimous support, and I am pleased he received strong bipartisan support today for his confirmation. I was happy to support his nomination and look forward to working with him on the energy issues facing West Virginians and Americans everywhere.”
