WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), issued the following statement in response to Secretary of the Interior Debra Haaland’s secretarial order to rescind several secretarial orders from the Trump administration. These rescinded secretarial orders supported America’s energy independence and streamlined the Department of the Interior’s permitting process.

“The Biden administration continues to betray America’s energy workers,” said Barrasso. “Secretary Haaland’s order will hurt our energy independence and make us more dependent on Russia and the Middle East. It will tie up important oil and natural gas projects in red tape. We shouldn’t leave these assets stranded in the ground or off our coasts. The Biden administration’s actions will result in higher energy bills for American families and fewer jobs for America’s energy workers.”
