WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), issued the following statement on the House Natural Resources Committee’s markup of their reckless tax and spending spree. 

“The Democrats’ reckless tax and spending spree is a gift to our nation’s adversaries,” said Barrasso. “Democrats are ramming through a bill that will effectively end new oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters. This is at a time when gasoline prices are rising and the Biden administration is begging OPEC and Russia to pump more oil. Their reckless legislation will also make it nearly impossible to mine on federal lands at a time when America is already heavily dependent on China for minerals used in critical defense, telecommunications, and energy technologies. It is difficult to imagine a more pro-China, pro-Russia, and pro-OPEC piece of legislation. It will take our country in the wrong direction.”
