Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a business meeting to consider pending legislation.
The Committee considered 21 public lands, recreation and energy bills that were all passed out of the Committee by a voice vote, including Chairman Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) bipartisan Mining Schools Act of 2023.
During his opening remarks, Chairman Manchin commented on the Mining Schools Act of 2023.
“I want to briefly acknowledge the Mining Schools Act which Senator Barrasso and I introduced that is on the agenda today. It will increase opportunities for mining and geological programs at universities nationwide which is critical to building a strong workforce of American miners. This is important as we need to reduce our reliance on foreign countries that don’t share our values, and I look forward to advancing the bill,” said Chairman Manchin.
