Barrasso Releases Statement on BLM’s Final Methane Rule

March 27, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), released the following statement after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released the final methane rule.

“The Bureau of Land Management’s final rule is a solution in search of a problem. The Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Wyoming already regulate methane emissions from oil and natural gas production. Rather than imposing yet another layer of red tape on American energy production, the Biden administration should take steps to unleash oil and natural gas production on federal lands,” said Senator Barrasso.
